First Lady

There are no surprises this week as Lady Gaga lands at No1 on the Album Chart with her eagerly-anticipated second album ‘Born This Way’. Her debut album is a hard act to follow: since release in January 2009 ‘The Fame’ has spent 8 weeks at No1 and has taken up permanent residence in the Top 50 throughout this time.

Adele makes way for the new No1, slipping to No2 and No3 with ‘21’ and ‘19’, ahead of Ryan Sheridan’s ‘The Day You Live Forever’, down from No3 to No4.  Ryan’s Rubyworks label-mates The Minutes have this week’s next new entry at No16 with their debut album ‘Marcata’, three years after the release of their first single ‘Harmonic’ which reached No36.  The Prodigy also score a Top 30 new entry at No28 with ‘World’s On Fire’, their first live album and first release since 2009’s ‘Invaders Must Die’.

Jedward take a second week at No1 on the Singles Chart with ‘Lipstick’ but Pitbull is snapping at their heels with ‘Give Me Everything’ (feat. Ne-Yo, Afrojack & Nayer), up from No4 to No2.  There’s good progress for Aloe Blacc’s ‘Need A Dollar’ (up from No15 to No9) and Swedish House Mafia’s ‘Save the World’ (up from No19 to No11), ahead of this week’s two Top 20 newcomers: Black Eyed Peas ‘Don’t Stop The Party’ at No16 and The Saturdays ‘Notorious’ at No19.
