Pitbull Still Top Dog

Pitbull takes a fourth week at No1 on the Singles Chart with ‘Give Me Everything’, holding off a strong challenge from Katy Perry who surges ten places from No12 to No2 this week with ‘Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)’.

Lady Gaga makes an even greater climb, up sixteen places from No22 to No6 with ‘The Edge Of Glory’ which debuted at No10 six weeks ago and now gets a new lease of life with the release of the accompanying video.  Also moving strongly in the right direction is Ed Sheeran, up from No23 to No15 with ‘The A Team’, and LMFAO, up from No34 to No20 with ‘Champagne Showers’ (feat. Natalia Kills).  There are two more new entries in this week’s Top 30: Take That at No27 with ‘Love Love’ and Eminem & Royce da 5’9”, performing as Bad Meets Evil, at No29 with ‘Lighters’ (feat. Bruno Mars).

Adele’s ‘21’ extends its residency at No1 on the Album Chart to 18 weeks, matching Alanis Morissette’s tally for ‘Jagged Little Pill’ fifteen years ago – and Adele now has Oasis’ 20-week record for ‘(What’s The Story) Morning Glory’ (1995) firmly in her sights.  Take That climb one place to No2 with ‘Progressed’, just ahead of this week’s highest new entry at No3 for Bon Iver’s eponymous second album.  Formed by Wisconsin singer-songwriter Justin Vernon, Bon Iver released their debut ‘For Emma, Forever Ago’ to huge critical acclaim, and the album reached No16 on the Irish Chart back in May 2008.  The only other new entry this week is at No18 for Singles Chart-topper Pitbull making his first appearance on the Album Chart with his sixth studio album ‘Planet Pit’.  His previous album ‘Rebelution’ just missed out on a Top 75 placing, peaking at No88 in 2009.
