Amy

The untimely and tragic death of Amy Winehouse makes its mark on the Irish Charts this week as both of her albums re-enter the Top 20 in the Album Chart and a number of tracks re-enter the Singles Chart.

Adele continues her record-breaking run at the top of the Album Chart as ‘21’ holds on at No1 for another week holding off a challenge from Beyoncé’s ‘4’ which climbs a place to No2. Imelda May drops a place to No3 with ‘Mayhem’ while Adele also occupies the No5 spot with ‘19’ – a non-mover from last week.  Amy Winehouse’s ‘Back To Black’ comes back into the chart at No4 while ‘Frank’ re-enters at No15 – a higher position than on its original release. In what is now the traditional quiet summer period there is only one new entry on the Top 50 this week – ‘Live In France’ by Rodrigo Y Gabriela which enters at No16. The Mexican duo has previously made a splash on the Album Chart with 2009’s ’11:11’ which debuted at No9 and 2006’s eponymous album which made it to the top spot.

The Wanted take a third week at the top of the Singles Chart with ‘Glad You Came’ ahead of JLS feat. Dev. who have to be content with the No2 position for ‘She Makes Me Want to’. This is a match for their best performance on the Singles Chart to date – ‘Everybody In Love’ also reached No2 in 2009. Pitbull’s ‘Give Me Everything’ holds steady at No3 while Beyoncé drops a place with ‘Best Thing I Never Had’ to No4. The Top 5 is completed by Aloe Blacc’s ‘I Need A Dollar’ which having dropped out of the Top 10 now turns around and heads back to No5. Amy Winehouse’s ‘Back To Black’ and ‘Rehab’ both re-enter the Top 30 at Nos 11 & 30 respectively.
