Chili Peppers Spice Up The Chart

02/Sep/2011

The Red Hot Chili Peppers debut at No1 on this week’s Album Chart with their tenth studio album ‘I’m With You’, five years after their previous release ‘Stadium Arcadium’ landed at No1 and spent five weeks at the summit.

Adele’s ‘21’ slips back to No2, one place ahead of this week’s next new entry from David Guetta ‘Nothing But The Beat’ – matching the No3 debut for previous release ‘One Love’ exactly two years ago.  London indie four-piece Bombay Bicycle Club have the next new entry at No18 with ‘A Different Kind Of Fix’ – their third album release, but the first to make the Irish Chart.  The fourth and final new entry in this week’s Top 20 is Lil Wayne’s ‘Tha Carter IV’ at No19, a personal best in Ireland for the New Orleans rapper, ahead of 2008’s ‘Tha Carter III’ which reached No34 in 2008 and ‘Rebirth’ which peaked at No45 last year.

Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera make it three weeks at No1 on the Singles Chart with ‘Moves Like Jagger’, ahead of Christina Perri’s ‘Jar Of Hearts’ and Calvin Harris’ ‘Feel So Close’ at No2 and No3 respectively.  David Guetta has this week’s highest new entry with ‘Turn Me On’ (feat. Nicki Minaj) at No11, his twelfth appearance in the Irish Top 20 in just two years – with a variety of artists.  Florence + The Machine have this week’s highest climber, up from No34 to No13 with ‘What The Water Gave Me’, the first song from their upcoming second album scheduled for November.  There are two more new entries in this week’s Top 20: Ed Sheeran with ‘You Need Me, I Don’t Need You’ at No19 – his follow-up to ‘The A Team’ which reached No5 and sits at No17 this week after three months in the chart – and Example at No20 with ‘Stay Awake’, his third Irish hit following ‘Changed The Way You Kiss Me’ and ‘Kickstarts’.
