Final Fantasy XIII-2 Tops Chart Ahead of Metal Gear & Soulcalibur

The new release drought is finally over as this week we have 3 new games in the Top 5, all well-respected Japanese franchises.

The first new No1 of 2012 is Square-Enix’s PS3/360 ‘Final Fantasy XIII-2’, the follow-up to the biggest-selling Final Fantasy game in the UK (at least in terms of week 1 sales) and that was ‘Final Fantasy XIII’ back in week 10, 2010. New at No2 is Konami’s newly remastered for PS3/360 ‘Metal Gear Solid HD Collection’ featuring ‘Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (original PS2 title from 2002), ‘Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater’ (also a PS2 original from 2005) and ‘Metal Gear Solid: Peacewalker’ (PSP original from 2010). EA’s ‘Battlefield 3’ climbs 2 places to No3 (+47%) and EA’s 4 straight weeks at No1 this year ends as ‘FIFA 12’ drops to No4 (-7%). The final new release at No5 is Namco Bandai’s ‘Soulcalibur V’ for PS3/360 - the last version ‘Soulcalibur IV’ debuted at No1 on release in August 2008.
