EA’s Snowboard Supercross series returns after a 5 year break for a 6th instalment and is the first ‘SSX’ for 360/PS3 and is also the first time an SSX title has debuted at No1 (previous best was ‘SSX 3’ at No3 back in week 44, 2003 with less than half the sales).
This franchise was last seen on Wii back in March 2007 as ‘SSX Blur’ and first released as ‘SSX: Snowboard Supercross’ on PS2 back in November 2000. EA also take No2 as ‘FIFA 12’ climbs 2 places to No2 (-5%). Nintendo’s Wii ‘Mario Party 9’ debuts at No3 and the Mario Party series dates back to March 1999 on N64, most recently seen on a home console for an extremely successful first Wii outing as ‘Mario Party 8’ back in July 2007. And so just like ‘SSX’ there are almost 5 years separating the 2 versions, although unlike ‘SSX’ the Nintendo title was absent this week from Game and Gamestation’s shelves. Note that the current version actually debuts 2 places higher than previous best in series ‘Mario Party 8’. Last week’s No1, Sony’s Vita ‘Uncharted: Golden Abyss’ is No4 (-71%).
In other news, if you look hard enough, you’ll find the return of 2010’s Xbox 360 hit ‘Alan Wake’ but for PC thanks to Nordic Games (No11 on the PC FP Chart) and also the return of the Premier Manager series with ‘Premier Manager 2012’ debuting at No30 on the PC BP Chart thanks to Focus Multimedia (last seen in 2009 as ‘Premier Manager 10’, first seen as Gremlin Graphics’ ‘Premier Manager’ back in December 1992 for Commodore Amiga and Atari ST).
