Mighty Diamonds

After debuting at No1 two weeks ago and then dipping to No3 last week, Marina & The Diamonds’ ‘Electra Heart’ returns to the top spot this week, deposing last week’s leaders Keane, whose ‘Strangeland’ drops seven places to No8.

With Adele’s ‘21’ holding at No2 and One Direction’s ‘Up All Night’ rising to No3, Jack Black and Kyle Gass comedy rock duo Tenacious D has this week’s highest new entry at No4 with ‘Rize Of The Fenix’. This is their third album following ‘Tenacious D’ which reached No18 ten years ago and ‘The Pick Of Destiny’ which debuted and peaked at No9 in 2006.  Another duo land at No10 to claim the next new entry – Beach House with their fourth album ‘Bloom’.  The third album ‘Teen Dream’ was their only previous chart entry in Ireland, reaching No48 in 2010.  The third and final new entry in this week’s Top 20 is at No14 for the latest offering from the Glee Cast – ‘The Graduation Album’, their sixteenth album in just over two years.  Of the previous fifteen, four made No1 and all but two made the Top 30.

With three weeks still to go until the first ball is kicked, the Irish Euro 2012 Squad & Friends take a second week at No1 on the Singles Chart with ‘The Rocky Road To Poland’ – and it’s the fastest selling single of the year so far in Ireland with more than 10,000 sales in the first two weeks.  Fun hold on at No2 with ‘We Are Young’, ahead of Marina & The Diamonds who climbs back to No3 with ‘Primadonna’.  This week’s highest new entry is at No13 for The Saturdays who record their eleventh Irish hit with ‘30 Days’.  Five of their previous singles made the Top 10, and three of these reached No6, but they’re still to breach the Irish Top 5.
