After debuting at No2 on the Singles Chart two weeks ago and then dipping to No3 last week, Will.i.am recovers to claim this week’s No1 slot with ‘This Is Love’ (feat. Eva Simons). This is his first solo No1 single in Ireland, but his sixth overall – four with the Black Eyed Peas and one with Usher.
Flo Rida is ousted to No2 after three weeks on top with ‘Whistle’ while Maroon 5 dip to No3 with ‘Payphone’ (feat. Wiz Khalifa). Florence + The Machine have this week’s highest new entry at No5 with ‘Spectrum (Say My Name)’, their eighth Top 30 single in Ireland and the fourth to make the Top 10. In a fairly static Top 30, the highest new entry is at No23 for Pink who chalks up her 23rd Top 30 hit with ‘Blow Me (One Last Kiss)’. In contrast Swedish singer-songwriter Lykke Li makes her first ever appearance in the Top 30 this week, up from No33 to No24 with ‘I Follow Rivers’.
Nine months after Florence + The Machine debuted at No1 on the Album Chart with ‘Ceremonials’, they take their second album back to the top this week, up twelve places from No13. A resurgent Ed Sheeran climbs to No2 with ‘+’, up from No5 last week, ahead of Paul Simon’s ‘Graceland’ at No3 and Jedward’s ‘Young Love’, down from No1 to No4. Highest new entry honours go to hotly-tipped newcomer Lianne La Haves who lands at No21 with her debut release ‘Is Your Love Big Enough?’. The only other new entry in this week’s Top 30 is at No25 for Newton Faulkner with ‘Write It On Your Skin’, his third album following ‘Hand Built By Robots’ which reached No10 in 2007 and ‘Rebuilt By Humans’ which debuted and peaked at No18 in 2009.
