Brian McFadden debuts on top

10/Sep/2004

Almost a year after hitting the top spot on the Singles Chart with Westlife and 'Mandy', Brian McFadden debuts at No1 with his first solo release 'Real To Me'. Chris Doran follows up 'If My World Stopped Turning' with 'Nothings Gonna Change My Love For You' but misses out on the top spot this time, debuting at No2. Natasha Bedingfield drops to No3 with 'These Words' after 3 weeks at No1 and Nelly's double A-side 'My Place/Flap Your Wings' falls from No2 to No4.

Maroon 5 have a third week at No1 on the Albums Chart with 'Songs About Jane', ahead of Madonna's 'Immaculate Collection' which holds at No2 and Damien Rice's 'O' - up from No4 to No3. Natasha Bedingfield's debut album 'Unwritten' is this week's highest new entry at No4, ahead of The Libertines' eponymous second album which is new at No5, outperforming their debut 'Up The Bracket' which has never made the Top 75 despite selling steadily since release in October 2002.
