Robin’s Magnificent Seven


Robin Thicke holds at No1 on the Singles Chart for a seventh week with ‘Blurred Lines’ (feat. T.I. & Pharrell) – only the tenth song this century to reign for more than six weeks.

There’s a re-entry at No2 for Aslan with ‘This Is’, twenty-seven years after this song was their first hit single in Ireland, reaching No12 in 1986. This follows the successful benefit concert ‘A Night For Christy’ at Dublin’s Olympia Theatre, where Aslan’s songs were performed by many of Ireland’s biggest names….including U2 performing ‘This Is’ by video link. The Wanted are new at No3 with ‘Walks Like Rihanna’ – their tenth appearance in the Irish Top 30 over a period of three years, but only their second time in the Top 3 (‘Glad You Came’ was No1 in 2011). The third new entry is at No15 for with ‘Bang Bang’, as performed on The Voice UK Final duetting with his protégé and eventual series runner-up Leah McFall.

Kodaline take a second week at No1 on the Album Chart with ‘In A Perfect World’, followed by Daft Punk at No2, Bruce Springsteen at No3 and Kanye West at No4. English singer-songwriter Tom Odell claims this week’s highest new entry at No5 with his debut release ‘Long Way Down’, four months after receiving the Critics’ Choice Award at this year’s Brits. Aslan’s ‘Platinum Collection’ is a re-entry at No10, eight years after it debuted and peaked at No3, during which time aptly the album’s gone triple platinum. The next new entry is for Australian duo Empire Of The Sun with their second album ‘Ice On The Dune’ at No26 – below the No17 debut for their first album ‘Walking On A Dream’ in 2009.
