Eminem Double Top

With the start of November and the Christmas season, the Top 20 sees the arrival of eight new albums this week and an all-new Top 4. The leader of the pack is Eminem with ‘The Marshall Mathers LP 2’, his sixth consecutive No1 from eight studio releases plus a seventh with his compilation ‘Curtain Call - The Hits’.

2012 X Factor winner James Arthur lands behind Eminem at No2 with his self-titled debut album, but ahead of Shane Filan whose solo debut ‘You And Me ‘arrives at No3. Two years after his ‘Folk Tale’ reached No3, Christy Moore claims the fourth new entry of the week at No4 with ‘Where I Come From’ – an album of re-recordings of many of his classics plus two new songs. The Wanted debut at No10 with their third album ‘Word Of Mouth’, compared with No4 for ‘Battlefield’ in 2011 and No11 for their eponymous debut in 2010. Tinie Tempah’s ‘Demonstration’, the follow-up to 2010’s ‘Disc-overy’, is new at No13 this week, failing to match the No2 debut for the first album but arriving in a very competitive week. Dutch violinist and conductor André Rieu continues his run of chart success with ‘Music Of The Night’ new at No16, ahead of Avril Lavigne whose self-titled fifth studio album debuts at No20. Her first three albums all made No1 in Ireland, but her fourth ‘Goodbye Lullaby’ stalled at No12.

After debuting at No6 last week, Eminem climbs five places to No1 with ‘The Monster’ (feat. Rihanna) and in the process becomes the first artist in over a year to top both Singles and Album Charts concurrently, the previous being The Script with ‘Hall Of Fame’ and ‘#3’ in September 2012. Once again Hozier narrowly misses out on the No1 spot, taking a third week at No2 with ‘Take Me To Church’. Little Mix claim this week’s highest new entry at No5 with ‘Move’, the lead single from their second album ‘Salute’ (out today - Friday) and their fourth appearance in the Irish Top 10 since winning The X Factor two years ago. The lead single ‘Applause’ reached No10 back in August, and since then Lady Gaga has released another three singles from her new album in as many weeks, and is rewarded with a new entry at No12 for ‘Dope’. This compares with No9 for ‘Do What You Want’ two weeks ago and No13 for ‘Venus’ last week.
