Duke Seizes The Crown

British DJ/producer Duke Dumont scores a second Irish hit this week, debuting at No1 with 'I Got U' (feat. Jax Jones), well ahead of the No27 peak for his 'Need U (100%)' last year.

Pharrell Williams dips to No2 after a total of nine weeks at the top with 'Happy', just ahead of Clean Bandit who also slip a place, down from No2 to No3 with 'Rather Be'. James Vincent McMorrow's version of the Steve Winwood classic 'Higher Ground' soars from No26 to No4 - the song is the soundtrack to Fáilte Ireland's new tourism video #IrelandInspires, launched in time for St Patrick's Day last Monday. Also moving at speed in the right direction this week, Dvbbs & Borgeous & Tinie Tempah leap ten places from No17 to No7 with 'Tsunami' (Jump), already a No1 in the UK and Benelux. With his debut 'Take Me To Church' still in the Top 10 six months after release, Hozier chalks up a second concurrent Top 10 hit with the follow-up 'From Eden', up from No34 to No8. The final new entry in this week's Top 20 is at No13 for Little Mix with 'Word Up!', their eighth hit single in Ireland since winning The X Factor in 2011.

The power of live shows in driving sales is again evident this week as Kodaline return to No1 on the Album Chart with 'In A Perfect World' following their O2 Dublin show last Sunday. He's reached No1 on this chart on ten occasions with Westlife, but Kian Egan has to settle for a No2 debut for his first solo release 'Home'. Nevertheless, he leads a quartet of new entries.... George Michael at No3 with live album 'Symphonica', Kylie at No4 with her 12th studio album 'Kiss Me Once' and Derek Ryan at No5 with 'The Entertainer - Live'. With Derek's label-mate Nathan Carter at No7, this gives Sharpe Music two live albums in this week's Top 10. In a busy week for new releases there are three further new entries between 10 and 30: Glee star Lea Michele debuts at No11 with her first solo release 'Louder', Philadelphia indie band The War On Drugs make a first appearance here at No13 with their third album 'Lost In The Dream' and finally last year's X Factor runner-up Nicholas McDonald is new at No21 with his debut 'In The Arms Of Angel'.
