Need for Speed has 2nd longest unbroken spell as All Formats No1

29/Jan/2005

10 weeks since launch and EA’s ‘Need For Speed: Underground 2’ claims the longest unbroken spell at the top of the All Formats Chart since EA's own 'FIFA: Road to the world cup 98' which holds the all time record with 11 consecutive weeks.

The Top 4 are all non-movers, with Take 2’s PS2 ‘GTA: San Andreas’ at No2, Vivendi’s ‘The Simpsons: Hit & Run’ at No3 and THQ’s ‘The Incredibles’ at No4. The two console-led football titles exchange positions, with Konami’s ‘Pro Evolution Soccer’ at No5 and EA’s ‘FIFA 2005’ at No6. There are no new releases in the Top 40, but the lone new releases of the week did include 2 different NFL American Football titles, with EA’s ‘NFL Street 2’ arriving (PS2/GC/XB) and Take 2 also choosing the end of January to unleash ‘ESPN NFL Football 2K5’ (PS2/XB). In fact, Take 2 also launched Basketball and Hockey versions of ESPN.
