Uptown - Top Ranking

After debuting at No2 last week, Mark Ronson climbs one place to claim this year's Christmas No1 single with 'Uptown Funk!' (feat. Bruno Mars).

This means that this year's X Factor winner Ben Haenow has to settle for No2 with his version of OneRepublic's 'Something I Need', breaking a run of eight consecutive Christmas No1's for the ITV show from 2006 to 2013. Ed Sheeran completes the Top 3 with 'Thinking Out Loud', a non-mover at No3. The second new entry of the week is at No5 for The High Hopes Choir with their version of Kodaline's 'High Hopes'. Led by David Brophy and made up of people affected by homelessness, the choir's single is raising funds for homeless charities. The only other new entry in this week's Top 20 is at No20 for Olly Murs with 'Up' (feat. Demi Lovato), his tenth Top 20 single in Ireland since coming second on The X Factor in 2009.

Ed Sheeran takes a third consecutive week at No1(and a sixth since release) with his second album 'X', outselling Hozier at No2 by a factor of more than 3:1. Sam Smith climbs two places from No5 to No3 with 'In the Lonely Hour' and celebrates a thirty week unbroken run in the Top 10 since the album's release back in May. The sole new entry in this week's Top 20 is at No20 for Aussie quartet 5 Seconds Of Summer with their first live offering 'LIVESOS', the follow-up to their self-titled debut which made No1 earlier this year.
