Ten At The Top For Ed

Ed Sheeran extends his tally of weeks at No1 on the Album Chart with 'X' to ten weeks - the longest residency at the top since Adele's record-breaking stretch three years ago.

There's no change in the next 3 places, with Hozier at No2, Taylor Swift at No3 and Sam Smith at No4. There are, however, the first new entries of 2015 further down the rankings, the highest of which is the original cast performance of Disney's new movie 'Into The Woods' at No48. Just behind at No53 is the latest solo release from Animal Collective's Noah Lennox, performing as Panda Bear, with 'Panda Bear Meets The Grim Reaper'. This is his first solo appearance in the Irish Charts, although he's charted twice with Animal Collective - 'Merriweather Post Pavilion' (No13 in 2009) & 'Centipede Hz' (No35 in 2012).

Mark Ronson & Bruno Mars take a fifth week at No1 with 'Uptown Funk!', ahead of non-mover Ed Sheeran at No2 with 'Thinking Out Loud' and Hozier at No3 with 'Take Me To Church', up from No4. Olly Murs with Demi Lovato climb three places from No7 to No4 with 'Up' while Taylor Swift also climbs three places from No8 to No5 with 'Blank Space', the second highest download seller of the week, but famously unavailable to stream. Highest new entry honours go to Australian singer Sia with 'Elastic Heart' at No23 - her second hit single in Ireland as lead artist following 'Chandelier' which reached No5 last summer and still sits at No10 this week.
