The Way To Number One

01/Apr/2005

Comic Relief produces the No1 single for a third week but this time with Tony Christie & Peter Kay’s ‘(Is This The Way To) Amarillo’ which climbs to the top from last week’s No5 and has the biggest one week sales of any single so far in 2005.
Gwen Stefani and Eve hold at No2 for a second week with ‘Rich Girl’ ahead of 50 Cent’s ‘Candy Shop’ which stays at No3. This week’s highest new entry is Mariah Carey’s new single – ‘It’s Like That’ which enters the chart at No11.

The Stereophonics reign at the top of the Albums Chart is short lived as The Killers’ ‘Hot Fuss’ climbs back to the No1 slot after a three week break to take their 8th week at No1. The Stereophonics ‘Language. Sex. Violence. Other?’ drops to No 2 while 50 Cent’s ‘The Massacre’ climbs a place to No3. Basement Jaxx claim this week’s highest new entry as their ‘Singles’ collection enters the Top 10 at No7 – giving them the highest album chart position for any of their releases.
