Rockstar/Take 2’s ‘Midnight Club 3: Dub Edition’ (PS2/XB) debuts at No2 behind EA’s ‘FIFA Street’ which claims its fourth consecutive week at No1 in the Entertainment Software All Formats Chart. ‘Midnight Club 3: Dub Edition’ has to settle for No3 in the PS2 Chart with Sony’s ‘GT4’ staying ahead in the competition for PS2 racing supremacy, but it does make it to No2 in the Xbox Chart behind ‘Doom 3’.
After last week’s strong showing, Ubisoft’s ‘Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory’ (PS2/XB/PC/GC) has the largest sales drop in the Top 40, down by 46% and falling from No2 to No4, while EA’s ‘Timesplitters: Future Perfect’ (PS2/XB/GC) nearly slips out of the Top 10, down 4 places from No6 to No10. The re-launch of Vivendi’s record-breaking ‘World of Warcraft’ (PC) sees it re-enter the Top 40 at No7 after several weeks of stock shortages and jumps back into the PC Entertainment Chart at No1. Vivendi miss out on a second Top 10 placing as ‘Predator: Concrete Jungle’ (PS2/XB) opens at No11. Of the remaining new entries in the Top 40 only Sega’s ‘World Snooker Championship 2005’ (PS2/XB/PC) breaks into the Top 10, new at No8. Vivendi is not the only company with a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game in the chart this week - Sega’s ‘The Matrix Online’ plugs in at No21. PC gaming also receives a boost from popular war/strategy game ‘Cossacks II: Napoleonic Wars’ by CDV/Koch, which debuts at No26.
