Akon's Still Lonely At The Top

Akon has a second week at No1 on the Singles Chart with ‘Lonely’ , maintaining a strong lead over the No2 single Tony Christie’s ‘Amarillo’, which climbs back from No3 last week

Donna & Joe drop one place to No3 with ‘Love’, ahead of this week’s highest new entry at No4: Gorillaz ‘Feel Good Inc’ , from their soon-to-be-released second album ‘Demon Days’. It’s their third and most successful appearance on this chart, following ‘Clint Eastwood’ which peaked at No5 in April 2001 and ’19-2000’ which made it to No26 in July the same year. Just behind Gorillaz at No5 is this week’s next new entry – The Game and 50 Cent’s ‘Hate It Or Love It’: their previous collaboration ‘How We Do’ reached No8 in February earlier this year. Bruce Springsteen holds at No1 on the Albums Chart for a third week with ‘Devils & Dust’ in a Top 4 which is unchanged from last week: Basement Jaxx ‘The Singles’ at No2, The Killers ‘Hot Fuss’ at No3 and Akon ‘Trouble’ at No4. This week’s highest new entry is Weezer’s ‘Make Believe’, their fifth and most successful chart album in Ireland to date, ahead of previous album ‘Maladroit’ which debuted and peaked at No15 in May 2002.
