EA's assault on the charts gains silver medal

20/Jun/2005

Rockstar/Take 2’s ‘Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas’ (PS2 and new XB/PC last week) holds on to No1 in the All Formats Entertainment Chart, fighting off strong competition from the latest instalment in EA’s successful FPS war franchise ‘Medal of Honor: European Assault’ (PS2/XB/GC) which storms in at No2 – only 1,846 sales behind the chart leader. ‘Medal of Honor: European Assault’ achieves the 5th highest sales week of any PS2 game so far this year (topping this week’s PS2 Full Price Chart) and comes in at No2 in the Full Price Xbox Chart behind ‘San Andreas’.

There are 2 more new releases debuting in this week’s All Formats Top 10 and both are from independent UK development studios – THQ’s ‘Juiced’ (PS2/XB/PC) by Warrington based ‘Juiced Games’ debuts impressively at No3, showing no signs of having suffered from its period in limbo after the collapse of Acclaim, while EA’s film tie-in ‘Batman Begins’ (PS2/XB/GC/GBA) developed in Derby by Eurocom launches at No6. EA now have 3 games in the All Formats Top 10 as ‘FIFA Street’ drops 3 places from No7 to No10.
