THQ Squeeze Past Former Gold Medal Winner

11/Jul/2005

THQ’s day has finally come and thanks to some price promotional activity it is ‘Juiced’ (PS2/XB/PC), not ‘Destroy All Humans!’ that gains them their first Entertainment Software Chart No1 this year (without actually being No1 on any of the individual format charts).

There is not much room to manoeuvre at the top of the Charts this week, with a little over 700 units separating No1 and No2. EA’s ‘Medal Of Honor: European Assault’ (PS2/XB/GC) drops to No2 having held off all comers for 2 weeks but THQ’s ‘Destroy All Humans!’ (PS2/XB) is still hovering near the top, down one place to No3. EA’s ‘Cricket 2005’ (PS2/XB/PC) climbs one place to No4, whilst Sony Of America’s internally developed and hotly tipped PS2 ‘God Of War’ is the highest new entry at No5. Activision’s multi-format ‘Madagascar’ climbs 7 places to No6 (No1 on GBA), with the movie due this Friday. The only other new entry to grace the Top 40 is Microsoft’s Xbox ‘Halo 2 Multiplayer Map Pack’, debuting at No13.
