Madagascar emerges as leader of Chart's Fantasic Four

08/Aug/2005

Activision’s six-format ‘Madagascar’ regains No1 in the All Formats Chart, up from No2, despite dropping 31% in sales. Last weeks’ No1, Codemasters’ ‘Brian Lara International Cricket 2005’ (PS2/XB/PC) is relegated to No3 in the batting order (although holds on to No1 in the Xbox Chart). Take 2’s five-format ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ has a tasty third week of release, being the only Top 10 game to increase in sales (up 6%, climbing from No5 to No2). Activision’s ‘Fantastic 4’ slips down one place to No4, but grabs No1 in the PS2 Full Price Chart. There is only 1000 units separating No1 in the All Formats Chart from No4, giving the All Formats Top 40 its very own fantastic 4 games, each selling almost double that of the next highest title: THQ’s ‘Destroy All Humans’ – up one place to No5.

Codemasters’ ‘Worms 4: Mayhem’ (PC version new this week) is the highest Top 40 climber, up from No25 to No12, while EA’s heavily promoted ‘Timesplitters: Future Perfect’ is the highest re-entry, back in at No17. There is only one new entry to make the Top 40 this week, Empire’s ‘International Cricket Captain: Ashes 2005’ (PC) which becomes the third cricket game in the chart over the last 6 weeks, debuting at No32 and developed by London-based Childish Things.
