Shawn Lights Up The Chart

This weeks Album Chart sees three new entries in the Top 5 as Shawn Mendes takes the top slot with his second studio release 'Illuminate'.

This is a better showing than 2015's 'Handwritten' that peaked at No11. Bruce Springsteen takes the second new entry at No2 with his latest compilation 'Chapter And Verse'. Released to accompany his recent autobiography it contains tracks picked by Springsteen over the last 46 years. Picture This climb one place to No3 this week after a week of live performances while Ed Sheeran's 'X' drops to No4. The third new entry in the Top 5 is for Passenger with his eighth studio release 'Young As The Morning Old As The Sea' - which enters at No5 - eclipsing his last two releases 'Whispers' and 'Whispers II' which reached No6 and No49 respectively. Other notable new entries this week include Jack O'Rourke whose 'Dreamcatcher' enters at No20 while Warpaint enter at No20 with their third release 'Heads Up'.

With very little change to the top of this week's Singles Chart - Chainsmokers hold on at No1 for a fifth week - it is Weeknd who create some interest as they take the highest new entry at No9 with their Daft Punk collaboration 'Starboy'. DJ Snake & Justin Bieber hold on at No2 with 'Let Me Love You' while Sia and Kendrick Lamar climb a place to No3 with 'The Greatest'. James Arthur also makes good strides this week taking 'Say You Won't Let Go' into the Top 10 at No8 from last week's No34.
