Burnout Revenge is sweet for EA

26/Sep/2005

EA’s ‘Burnout Revenge’ (PS2/XB) rockets to No1 in the All Formats Entertainment chart, taking down stablemate title ‘The Sims 2: Nightlife’ (PC) which moves over to No2. The giant US publisher claims the No1 and No2 games for the second week running with last weeks No2 ‘Burnout Legends’ dropping to No5, but becoming the only PSP game to feature in the All Formats Top 20 (compared to 4 last week).

Codemasters’ ‘Brian Lara International Cricket 2005’ (PS2/XB/PC) continues to perform well with sales up 21% on last week and up 1 place from No4 to No3 in the Top 40 Chart. THQ have a strong week with PC expansion pack ‘Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War Winter Assault’ featuring as the next highest new entry at No4, while heavy retailer promotions mean sales of ‘Juiced’ (PS2/XB/PC) refuse to dry up, pushing the racer back into the Top 10 from No31 to No8. THQ also manage to squeeze sales from the Gamecube only ‘WWE: Day of Reckoning 2’ which enters the All Formats ring at No11 and dominates the Gamecube Chart at No1, selling 16 times more than the No2 Gamecube title, Capcom’s ‘Resident Evil 4’. The Eidos/SCI game ‘Total Overdose’ (PS2/XB/PC) is a non-mover at No7, but sales are up 23% on last week, while Ubisoft’s No1 of 2 weeks ago can’t hold on to a Top 10 chart position with ‘Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Lockdown’ falling from No6 to No15. There are 3 more new releases to make it into the All Formats Top 40 this week: Codemasters’ ‘Heroes of the Pacific’ (PS2/XB/PC) at No13, THQ’s ‘Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War Gold’ (the new expansion pack coupled with the original game) at No28 and Microsoft’s expanded PC version of the successful Xbox RPG ‘Fable: The Lost Chapters’ at No34.
