Konami’s ‘Pro Evolution Soccer 5’ (PS2/XB with PC new this week) notches up a second week as All Formats No1 despite sales dropping by half (- 49%). Last week’s high scoring football games all still chart in the top 3, but a stronger decrease in sales of Sega’s ‘Football Manager 2006’ (- 52%) allows EA’s multi-format ‘FIFA 06’ (-16%) to shimmy ahead, climbing from No3 to No2, pushing Sega’s top selling PC game down to No3.
Rockstar/Take 2 have a good week as ‘The Warriors’ (PS2/XB) claims 58% more sales - not quite enough to capture No3 from Sega, having to settle for a second week at No4. Nintendo’s ‘Pokemon Emerald’ (+4%) is also a non-mover at No5. Lucasarts/Activision have this week’s highest new entry with the early release of ‘Star Wars: Battlefront II’ on PS2/XB/PC (No6), ahead of the Star Wars Episode 3 DVD release on Monday. Activision also claim the only other Top 10 new entry thanks to ‘Tony Hawk’s American Wasteland’ (PS2/XB/GC) debuting at No9. The appearance of Sony’s ‘Singstar Popworld’ (PS2) at No10, up an impressive 21 places from No31, comes down to strong retailer promotion. Other strong performers are Midway’s ‘L.A Rush’ up 5 places from No17 to No12 and EA’s ‘SSX On Tour’ (PS2/XB/GC/NG and PSP new this week) up from No20 to No15. Ubisoft’s ‘Brother’s in Arms: Earned in Blood’ (XB/PC/PS2) is caught in no-man’s land at No16 despite the PS2 new recruit joining forces this week. The spectacular PC First-Person Shooters - Activision's ‘Quake IV' and Vivendi's ‘F.E.A.R’ both have disappointing 2nd weeks, slipping out of the Top 10 from No10 to No18 and No6 to No19 respectively. 3 more new games take their first steps into the All Formats Top 40 territory this week with Sony’s music quiz game ‘Buzz’ (PS2) released last week but now charting at No22, Deep Silver’s ‘X3: Reunion’ (PC) debuting at No26 and the MMPORPG from NCSoft ‘City of Villains’ beating its heroic predecessor’s first week sales and entering the Top 40 at No39.
