Need for Speed Most Wanted lives up to name

28/Nov/2005

It’s another big week for new releases, but of the 8 new products that launched last week outside the Top 10, only one makes it through that barrier (Activision’s ‘Call Of Duty 2: Big Red One’ is up from No12 to No9, +105%). As for this week, there are a further 6 new products in the Top 40 of which two make the Top 10. No surprises at No1 as EA debut with ‘Need For Speed: Most Wanted’ (PS2/XB/GC/GBA/DS/PC), 73% of this on PS2. Last year EA also debuted in week 47 with ‘Need For Speed: Underground 2’ with slightly higher total market sales although actually began life at No2 behind Take 2’s PS2 juggernaut, ‘Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas’.

Konami climb 2 places to No2 thanks to the new PSP version of ‘Pro Evolution Soccer 5’, joining PS2/XB/PC (+21%). EA take No3 and No4 with ‘Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire’ (down from No1 to No3, -2%) and the 7 formats of ‘FIFA 06’ (+13%). The other Top 10 new entry is Vivendi’s PS2/XB ‘50 Cent: Bulletproof’, muscling its way in at No5. This week’s other new releases also include Nintendo’s ‘Mario Kart DS’ at No13, Activision’s PS2/XB/GC ‘True Crime: New York City’ at No20, EA’s PC ‘Battlefield 2: Special Forces’ at No24 and Disney/Buena Vista’s big Christmas title, ‘The Chronicles Of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe’ at No30.
