...Mario Rosenstock takes this year’s coveted prize of the Christmas No1 Single as his Roy Keane inspired take on Will Young’s ‘Leave Right Now’ storms straight to the top of the charts with the highest solo week’s sales of any single for nearly four years. Will Young also had the Christmas No1 with 'Leave Right Now' in 2003. Nizlopi’s ‘JCB Song’ has to settle for the No2 spot whilst holding off a brave challenge from this year’s X-Factor winner - Shayne Ward - whose ‘That’s My Goal’ debuts at No3 despite only being in the shops for two days.
The Pogues featuring Kirsty MacColl enter the Chart at No4 with their Christmas anthem ‘Fairytale of New York’ 18 years after it’s original release whilst Eminem provides the last new entry in this week’s Top 10 as “When I’m Gone” enters at No6. The Album Charts sees little change at the top as Eminem takes a third week at No1 with ‘Curtain Call – The Hits’, holding off Mario Rosenstock’s ‘Gift Grub 6’ which remains steady at No2. Kelly Clarkson moves up a place with ‘Breakaway’ to this week’s No3 – her best performance to date on the Album Chart. Both the Compilation Chart and the Video Chart also have no change at the top as ‘Now 62’ and Tommy Tiernan’s ‘Loose’ both hold firmly to their respective Top spots for Christmas week.
