No1 and No2 for EA as Need for Speed reaches lucky 7th week

16/Jan/2006

In another very quiet chart week EA’s ‘Need for Speed: Most Wanted’ remains No1 in the All Formats Top 40 for a seventh time. The only real challenge comes from EA themselves with the release of the PSP version of ‘The Sims 2’ (PSP/PS2/PC/GBA/XB/GC/DS) pushing the hugely popular god-game up 2 places from No4 to No2 (the PSP version debuts at No3 in the PSP Chart behind Take 2’s ‘Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories’ and Konami’s ‘Pro Evo 5’).

EA may have the top 2 games in the All Formats Chart this week, but they lose out on the football field as Konami’s ‘Pro Evolution Soccer 5’ (PSP/PS2/XB/PC) overtakes FIFA to claim the No3 spot, up 2 places from No5, while EA’s multi-format ‘FIFA 06’ drops 2 places from No3 to No5. Sega’s PC footballing phenomenon ‘Football Manager 2006’ also shows off some silky skills, re-entering the All Formats Top 10, up 5 places from No13 to No8 and making it 3 football games in the Top 10. Sega not only top the PC Entertainment Chart with ‘Football Manager 2006’, but also claim No1 in the Budget PS2, Xbox and Gamecube Charts with ‘Shadow the Hedgehog’.
