Arctic Monkeys Still In Pole Position

After their record-breaking debut last week, Arctic Monkeys take a second week at the top of the Albums Chart with ‘Whatever People Say I Am, That Is What I’m Not’, selling nearly as many copies as the rest of the Top 5 combined.

Jose Gonzalez holds at No2 for a second week with ‘Veneer’, followed at No3 by Bell X1 ‘Flock’, climbing from No7 last week on the back of their recent Irish gigs. There’s a close tussle at the top of the Compilations Chart this week between 2 new entries: ‘Beautiful Lovesongs’ at No1 (in time for St Valentine’s Day), just 31 sales ahead of Tom Dunne’s ‘Pet Picks 2000 – 2006’ at No2. ‘Now 62’ is finally deposed from a 10-week unbroken run at the top, down to No3. Shayne Ward makes it 5 weeks in a row at No1 on the Singles Chart this week with ‘That’s My Goal’, ahead of Beyoncé & Slim Thug, up from No4 to No2 with ‘Check On It’. Chris Brown (feat. Juelz Santana) has this week’s highest new entry at No4 with his debut single ‘Run It!’ which spent 5 weeks at No1 on the US Hot 100 last year when he was just 16 years old.
