The Godfather takes control at the top

03/Apr/2006

EA’s ‘The Godfather’ joins the All Formats No1 family this week with only a 3% drop in sales, while Take 2’s ‘The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion’ drops down to No2 (sales down 55% on last week).

EA’s ‘FIFA Street 2’ is promoted from No4 to No3, while Sony’s ‘Buzz! The Big Quiz’ slips one place to No4. The only All Formats Top 10 game to increase in sales this week is Ubisoft’s ‘Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter’ - the launch of the PS2 version means it holds on to No5. Nintendo’s DS-exclusive ‘Animal Crossing: Wild World’ becomes the 4th fastest selling DS title behind the Mario/Wario trio of ‘Super Mario 64 DS’, ‘Mario Kart DS’ and ‘Wario Ware Touched!’. Ubisoft releases 3 new games into the All Formats Top 40 this week, 2 of which are on Xbox 360. Xbox 360 exclusive ‘Far Cry: Instincts Predator’ debuts at No8 and ‘Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII’ (XB360/XB/PC) swoops in at No12, while ‘CSI: 3 Dimensions of Murder’ (PC) just makes it at No39. There are 7 new releases to break into the All Formats Top 40 this week with Eidos’ ‘Championship Manager 2006’ scoring a Top 10 Chart position, new at No9 (selling just over a ¼ of its predecessor’s launch week sales). Other new faces are film tie-in ‘Ice Age 2: The Meltdown’ at No14 and ‘Outrun 2006: Coast 2 Coast’ at No18.
