EA closes in on World Cup hat-trick

08/May/2006

There are no injury worries for EA this week as top performer ‘FIFA World Cup Germany 2006’ notches up a 2nd week as All Formats No1, surging ahead of Eidos’ ‘Tomb Raider: Legend’, runner up for a second week.

Last week in the individual format charts ‘FIFA World Cup Germany 2006’ was No1 only on Xbox 360, but this week EA’s football behemoth tops the Xbox 360, PS2, Xbox and Gamecube Charts with overall sales up by 38%. ‘Tom Clancy’s Advanced Warfighter’ captures 3rd place in the All Formats Chart with the PC version a new recruit (No2 in the PC Full Price Chart behind ‘Guild Wars: Factions’). Nintendo impress with 2 DS exclusives in the All Formats Top 10: ‘Animal Crossing: Wild World’ down one place from No4 to No5 and new entry ‘Metroid Prime: Hunters’ at No6. The highest positioned PSP exclusive game is ‘Socom: US Navy Seals Fireteam Bravo’ which drops 5 places from No19 to No24. Eidos claim 2 Top 10 games thanks to the release of ‘Championship Manager 2006’ on PS2 (joining PC & PSP versions) which pushes the football management sim back into the Top 10 at No10.
