‘Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories’ remains streets ahead at the top of the All Formats Chart, despite ‘New Super Mario Bros’ bounding in at No2 with the second highest DS launch week ever, behind ‘Super Mario 64 DS’.
Nintendo’s ‘Dr Kawashim’s Brain Training’ falls one place, down from No3 to No4 with sales dropping by only 4%. Could England’s exit from the World Cup have signalled the decline of football games? ‘FIFA World Cup Germany 2006’ is down one place from No2 to No3, ‘Pro Evolution Soccer 5’ down from No4 to No5 and ‘Championship Manager 2006’ down from No15 to No16, while ‘Sensible Soccer 2006’ takes on the role of Wayne Rooney with an early exit from the Top 10, down from No9 to No18. The only All Formats Top 10 game to increase in sales is Activision’s ‘Over the Hedge’, up from No12 to No7, buoyed by the release of the film on Friday. The next highest new entry after Mario is Ubisoft’s ‘Over G Fighters’, landing at No13 and proving that there is strong demand for new Xbox 360 games as it tops the Xbox 360 chart. The highest Top 20 climber is Sony’s ‘LocoRoco’ for PSP, up from No25 to No19, while THQ record the only remaining Top 40 new release with ‘Titan Quest’ debuting at No25 (and No2 in the PC Chart).
