Take 2’s ‘Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories’ on PS2/PSP remains well ahead for a third consecutive week at No1, although sales are down 32% over last week.
Nintendo’s DS ‘New Super Mario Bros’ (-4%) takes a second week at No2, while Activision’s ‘Over The Hedge’ climbs 4 places to No3 thanks to a full week on release at the cinema and all the associated marketing events. The tail end of the World Cup signifies a continued lull in football-related videogame activity, with ‘FIFA World Cup Germany 2006’ dropping one place to No4 (-22%), Konami dropping one place to No6 with ‘Pro Evolution Soccer 5’ (+4%) and only one other football title within the Top 20 (down from 5 last week) – but Eidos’ ‘Championship Manager 2006’ actually climbs a healthy 14% up 2 places to No14, presumably as videogamers turn their thoughts towards the domestic season. Nintendo’s ‘Dr Kawashima’s Brain Training’ (-3%) falls one place to No5 while Eidos’ ‘Tomb Raider: Legend’ also drops one place to No7. Two big new entries make the Top 10 this week. First up at No8 are the hand-held versions of ‘Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest’, courtesy of Disney/Buena Vista. Bounding in at No10 is Sega’s big Xbox 360 hope, ‘Chromehounds’, developed by Japanese ‘Armored Core’ developer, From Software.
