Take 2’s ‘Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories’ on PS2/PSP stays on top for its 5th week at No1. THQ’s ‘Cars’ steps up a gear from No16 to No2 to be this week’s highest climber thanks to the build up of the film’s release on the 28th July. The hand held formats (PSP/DS/GBA) being the real force behind the impressive jump in position as children stock up for the holidays. Nintendo DS’s ‘New Super Mario Bros’ holds No3, while Ubisoft move up 6 places to No4 with ‘Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Legend of Jack Sparrow’ benefiting from both a very successful silver screen reaction and the release of the PC version.
The PS2 version also benefits as it knocks Activision’s ‘Over The Hedge’ from the top slot on the PS2 chart to take this week’s No1. In a week devoid of many new releases, Sierra’s ‘Miami Vice: The Game’ achieves the highest new entry in the PSP chart entering at No11, whilst ‘Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga’ from Ghostlight is the highest new entry in the PS2 chart entering at No21.
