Top Of The Hip Parade

Shakira stays firmly at the top of the Singles Chart this week with ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ – her eighth week at the top and in the process matches Gnarls Barkleys eight weeks at No1 with ‘Crazy’ earlier in the year. Rihanna holds on to the No2 position with ‘Unfaithful’ whilst Christina Aguilera’s ‘Ain’t No Other Man’ moves up a place to No3. Cascada achieves this week’s highest new entry with her new single – ‘Everytime We Touch’ – which enters the Top 10 at No6. Having had previous Chart success in her native Germany this is her debut release in Ireland.

There is also no change at the top of the Album Chart as Billy Joel holds on to the No1 spot for a second week with ‘Piano Man – The Very Best Of’. Johnny Cash moves back up to No2 with ‘American V: A Hundred Highways’ as Snow Patrol’s ‘Eyes Open’ move up to No3 from last week’s No6. DMX’s new album ‘Year Of The Dog Again’ is this week’s highest new entry debuting in the Top 20 at No15 – not quite as good a showing as his 2003 release ‘Grand Champ’ which entered the Chart at No8. James Morrison also scores a Top 20 entry with his debut album ‘Undiscovered’ which finishes the week at No16.
