Cars is streets ahead

There is a pile-up at the top of the All Formats Chart this week as THQ’s ‘Cars’ holds on and consolidates on pole position ahead of non-movers ‘Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories’ from Take 2 at No2 and Nintendo’s DS ‘New Super Mario Bros.’ at No3. ‘Cars’ is now No1 in the PS2, PSP, Xbox, Gamecube and GBA Full Price Charts with only PC and DS missing out on top spots.

Sales of ‘New Mario’ are down 5%, but ‘Dr Kawashima’s Brain Training’ is up 3%, climbing one place from No5 to No4 with follow-up grey cell workout ‘Big Brain Academy’ proving school is not out for summer, climbing 4 places from No16 to No12. The World Cup may be over, but Konami’s ‘Pro Evolution Soccer 5’ remains an All Format top scorer, up 2 places from No7 to No5, while retailer promotions mean a Top 10 re-entry for the original ‘The Sims’ at No6 as well as Top 40 showings for super-budget PC games like ‘Froggies’ at No17, ‘Moose on the Loose’ at No18 and ‘Galaxy of Games: Yellow Edition’ at No19. ‘Formula 1 06’ makes the Top 10 starting grid, up 4 places from No14 to No10 in its second week. There is only one new entry to make the All Formats Top 40 this week – Sony’s camp karaoke collection ‘Singstar Anthems’ at No20, while THQ’s handheld racer ‘Juiced Eliminator’ nudges into the Top 40 at No38 in its second week of release.
