Girls On Top

In a Top 10 dominated by solo female artists this week, Shakira celebrates her ninth week at No1 on the Singles Chart with ‘Hips Don’t Lie’, giving her the longest running No1 this year and equalling the Black Eyed Peas nine weeks in 2003 with ‘Where is The Love?’. Rihanna holds firm at No2 with ‘Unfaithful’ whilst Cascada moves up to No3 from last weeks No7 with ‘Everytime We Touch’. Although not making it back into the Big Brother house this week, Irish DJ Spiral makes it into the Top 10 with the re-release of ‘Finglas’ which debuts at No9 – a better showing than its first outing when it peaked at No38.

Fifteen weeks after its release and its initial stint at the top of the Album Chart, Snow Patrol take ‘Eyes Open’ back to No1 this week, as they continue their current tour. Billy Joel drops a place to No2 with ‘Piano Man – The Very Best Of’ as The Kooks climb a place to No3 with ‘Inside In/Inside Out’. Actor and singer Nick Lachey achieves this week’s highest new entry as ‘What’s Left Of Me’ enters the chart at No 21.
