EA caught speeding at No1

06/Nov/2006

EA’s ‘Need for Speed: Carbon’ starts its engines at No1 in the All Formats Chart just edging aside ‘Pro Evolution Soccer 6’ by over 1,000 units. ‘Need for Speed: Carbon’ on PS2 cannot match its predecessor’s launch week, accounting for 74% of ‘NFS: Most Wanted’s first week sales.

Konami’s record breaking football game is still top of the league on PS2 but is overtaken at No1 on Xbox 360 by EA’s racing blockbuster. EA now have 3 games in the Top 4 of the All Formats Chart with ‘FIFA 07’ down one place to No3 and ‘The Sims 2: Pets’ also down one place to No4. Take 2 are a non-mover at No5 with ‘Canis Canem Edit’, but are joined by fellow classmate ‘Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories’ on PSP at No6. Sega’s ‘Football Manager 2007’ falls from No4 to No7, Ubisoft’s ‘Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Double Agent’ slips 2 places from No6 to No8 and Vivendi’s ‘Scarface: The World is Yours’ remains in the Top 10, down from No7 to No10. There is only one other Top 10 new entry this week – THQ’s add-on ‘Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War: Dark Crusade’ for PC at No9. Another PC new release, Atari’s ‘Neverwinter Nights 2’ debuts at No14, while Activision’s multi-format ‘Marvel Ultimate Alliance’ powers in at No24. Vivendi celebrate this weeks highest climber with ‘The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning’ up 12 places from No28 to No16 in its second week. The only other game to break into the All Formats Top 40 is Atari’s ‘Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2’ at No29.
