Microsoft gearing up for Christmas

Microsoft shifts into top gear this week with the new fastest selling Xbox 360 game ‘Gears of War’ storming to No1 in the All Formats Chart. ‘Gears of War’ is the second fastest selling Microsoft game ever (behind ‘Halo 2’) and the 3rd fastest selling game of the year so far, behind ‘PES 6’ and ‘FIFA 07’.


‘Need for Speed: Carbon’ and ‘WWE Smackdown Vs Raw 2007’ get knocked back to No2 and No3 respectively. EA’s football phenomenon ‘FIFA 07’ outplays Konami’s ‘PES 6’ this week, shimmying up one place from No5 to No4, while ‘PES 6’ slips 2 places from No4 to No6. EA now have 3 games in the All Formats Top 5 with ‘The Sims 2: Pets’ up from No6 to No5. Activision’s ‘Call of Duty 3’ gets shot down from No3 to No7, while THQ’s ‘Bratz: Forever Diamondz’ sparkles at No9, up 28 places thanks to a strong showing from the new DS version (No4 in the DS Chart). The are 4 DS exclusive games in the All Formats Top 20 with each one climbing in sales: ‘Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue’ up from No14 to No12, ‘Dr. Kawashima’s Brain Training’ up from No17 to No14, ‘Nintendogs: Dalmatian & Friends’ up from No21 to No17 and ‘New Super Mario Bros.’ up from No22 to No20. There are now 15 DS games represented in the All Formats Top 40. The only new releases to make the All Formats Top 40 this week apart from ‘Gears of War’ are Activision’s ‘Tony Hawk’s Project 8’ debuting at No18 and ‘Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus’ from Square-Enix new at No28.
