FIFA chokes on Carbon emissions

27/Dec/2006

‘Need for Speed: Carbon’ overtakes ‘FIFA 07’ to regain pole position at the top of the All Formats Chart, shunting the footballing phenomenon down one place to No2. EA can now celebrate its most dominant year ever at the Top of the All Formats Chart with a record 26 weeks at No1 so far in 2006.

Konami’s ‘Pro Evolution Soccer 6’, Activision’s ‘Call of Duty 3’ and EA’s ‘The Sims 2: Pets’ all move up one place to Nos 3, 4 and 5 respectively, while THQ’s ‘WWE Smackdown Vs Raw 2007’ feels the winter chill, being the only Top 40 title to drop sales this week, falling from No3 to No6. ‘Dr Kawashima’s Brain Training’ squashes ‘Mario 64 DS’ to claim the highest ever sales week for a DS game. The mind-expanding puzzler re-enters the Top 10, up from No11 to No8 having not dropped out of the All Formats Top 20 since its launch 29 weeks ago. Nintendo have a good week with Wii software continuing to sell well - ‘The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess’ up from No12 to No11. ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire: Party Edition’ jumps from No21 to No14, showing the attraction of quiz and puzzle games over Christmas. Vivendi’s film tie-in ‘Eragon’ and Sega’s DS game ‘Sonic Rush’ both double in sales, up from No37 to No24 and No39 to No26 respectively. There are Top 40 re-entries for Ubisoft’s ‘Rayman Raving Rabbids’ and ‘Red Steel’ at No32 and No34, while a first Top 40 appearance for ‘Sonic Rivals’ on PSP gives Sega two handheld Sonic games in the All Formats Top 40.
