Snow Patrol’s ‘Eyes Open’ returns for a fifth stint at the top of the Album Chart this week: in the nine months since release last April, the album has never dipped lower than No12 in the chart, with 20 weeks in the Top 3, and only narrowly missed out on topping the 2006 year-end chart to Westlife’s ‘The Love Album’.
U2 drop to No2 after one week at No1 with ‘U218 Singles’, ahead of Razorlight’s self-titled second album, up from No5 to No3. Amy Winehouse climbs from No16 to No4 with ‘Back To Black’ three months after release – a personal best for her on this chart (her first album ‘Frank’ never made the Top 40). Leona has a fourth week at No1 on the Singles Chart with ‘A Moment Like This’, heading a Top 4 which is unchanged from last week: Akon at No2, Take That at No3 and Cascada at No4. There are 2 very different new entries in this week’s Top 20: Malahide’s Director have their third hit single in less than a year with ‘Leave It To Me’ at No17 and Queen have a download hit at No19 with the 31-year old classic ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’.
