Dream Debut For Monkeys’ Nightmare

27/Apr/2007

After re-writing the record books last year with their debut album ‘Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not’, the Arctic Monkeys’ success story continues with the No1 debut this week for their second album ‘Favourite Worst Nightmare’.

Avril Lavigne slips to No2 after debuting at No1 last week with her third album ‘The Best Damn Thing’, just ahead of Cascada’s ‘Everytime We Touch’, down to No3 from No2. With two hit singles under their belts, Dublin’s Delorentos have this week’s next new entry at No7 with their debut album ‘In Love With Detail’, one place ahead of Beyoncé’s ‘B’Day’ which re-enters the chart at No8 with the release of a new CD/DVD package. Brian McFadden debuts at No1 on this week’s Singles Chart with his independently-released ‘Like Only A Woman Can’, his sixth solo Top 30 single and third solo No1 in Ireland. Avril Lavigne holds for a second week at No2 with ‘Girlfriend’, ahead of Beyoncé and Shakira’s ‘Beautiful Liar’, down to No3 after one week on top. Mika is this week’s highest climber, up from No36 to No14 with ‘Love Today’, the follow-up to his chart-topping debut ‘Grace Kelly’ which is at No16 this week after 16 weeks in the Top 20. Manic Street Preachers have the second of just two new entries in this week’s Top 20 – ‘Your Love Alone Is Not Enough’, the lead single from their forthcoming ‘Send Away The Tigers’ album, is new this week at No18.
