Spider-Man survives Pirates broadside

29/May/2007

Activision’s ‘Spider-Man 3’ sticks to No1 for a fourth week, seeing off competition from Disney Interactive Studios’ latest film tie-in ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End’, stealing in at No2 and Nintendo’s first online enabled Wii game and first Mario game for the new platform ‘Mario Strikers Charged Football’, debuting at No3.

Nintendo’s ‘Kawashima’ is showing no signs of brain strain, up 2 places from No9 to No7, boosted by continued TV advertising. Nintendo are the only company to have format-exclusive games in the All Formats Top 10 with ‘Mario’, ‘Wii Play’ (No6) and ‘Kawashima’. 505 Games’ ‘Cooking Mama’ slips down from No5 to No10, while Ubisoft’s ‘TMNT’ and EA’s ‘The Sims 2: Pets’ just miss out on Top 10 re-entries with both titles jumping 10 places to No’s 11 and 12 respectively. The DS stable is further bolstered by the first appearance in the All Formats Top 40 of ‘Pony Friends’ from Eidos at No18 in its second week of release. With ‘Guitar Hero II’ now back in stock on Xbox 360, the Activision headbanger rocks its way back into the Top 40 at No24. The only other new release to make the All Formats Top 40 is Konami’s ‘Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops’ at No30, but No1 in the PSP Chart.
