After 20 weeks in the Top 40 Albums Chart, Kings Of Leon finally make it to the top spot with their third album ‘Because Of The Times’, up from No2 last week and swapping places with Timbaland who slips to No2 after two weeks at No1 with ‘Shock Value’.
On the week of the 30th anniversary of his death, the latest posthumous Elvis compilation ‘The King’ is this week’s highest new entry at No3 – his best showing on this chart since ‘30 No1 Hits’ debuted at No1 five years ago. Timbaland has a fourth week at No1 on the Singles Chart with ‘The Way I Are’, ahead of Kanye West’s ‘Stronger’ which surges from No9 to No2 with the release of CD and 12” versions. Fergie drops one place to No3 with ‘Big Girls Don’t Cry’ and Hans Zimmer’s ‘Spider Pig’ slips from No3 to No4, despite a second week at No1 on the Download Chart. Plain White T’s have this week’s highest climber in the Top 40, up 14 places from No19 to No5 with ‘Hey There Delilah’, still only available on downloads. In another good week for North American artists (16 out of the Top 20), Gym Class Heroes have this week’s highest new entry with ‘Clothes Off!’ at No14 on downloads, with physical formats released today (Friday).
