After debuting at No8 last week on the strength of download sales, Sean Kingston surges to the top of the Singles Chart this week with the CD release of ‘Beautiful Girls’- the debut single for the Miami-born, Jamaican-bred 17 year-old.
Plain White T’s ‘Hey There Delilah’ climbs for a fourth week but fails to keep up with Sean Kingston, settling at No2 this week, up from No4. Timbaland dips to No3 after five weeks at No1 with ‘The Way I Are’, still just ahead of Kanye West ‘Stronger’, down from No2 to No4. With no other significant movers in the Top 20, there are four new entries outside: No22 for The Freaks ‘The Creeps (Get On The Dancefloor)’, No24 for Elvis Presley ‘Hound Dog’, No27 for Paddy Casey ‘Addicted To Company’ and No28 for James Blunt ‘1973’. Timbaland holds at No1 on the Album Chart with ‘Shock Value’, his fourth week on top, ahead of Kings Of Leon ‘Because Of the Times’ at No2 and Rihanna ‘Good Girl Gone Bad’ at No3. Dolores Keane climbs 6 places from No10 to No4 with her ‘Essential Collection’, but the highest climber in the Top 40 is Newton Faulkner with his debut ‘Hand Built By Robots’, up from No23 to No10. There’s only one new entry in this week’s Top 20 – the eighth studio album from Welsh chart veterans Super Furry Animals ‘Hey Venus!’, which enters the Chart at No16. Since the release of their debut album ‘Fuzzy Logic’ in 1996, SFA have now had five Top 30 albums in Ireland, the most successful of which was 2003’s ‘Phantom Power’ which debuted and peaked at No12.
