5 weeks at No1 for Britney

16/Jul/2004

Britney Spears makes it five weeks at the top of the Singles Chart with 'Everytime', and for a second consecutive week she retains the slimmest of margins over George Murphy's 'The Moon Going Home' at No2. Counting Crows have this week's highest new entry at No6 with 'Accidentally In Love' from the Shrek 2 Soundtrack (which, incidentally, climbs to the top of this week's Compilation Albums Chart). Shapeshifters have the next highest new entry at No7 with 'Lola's Theme'.

After just one week at the top of the Albums Chart, Usher's 'Confessions' drops to No2 and is replaced at the top by The Streets 'A Grand Don't Come For Free', which has now spent an impressive total of 3 weeks at No1, 4 weeks at No2 and 3 weeks at No3 since release 10 weeks ago. In a quiet week for new releases, Brendan Keeley has this week's highest new entry at No26 with 'At Last'.
