EA's Army - When Two become One

EA brings Mario & Sonic’s run at the top of the All Formats Chart to an end as ‘Army of Two’ debuts at No1 with Sega’s ‘Mario & Sonic At The Olympic Games’ having to settle for a silver medal at No2 (sales down 34%).

‘Army of Two’ becomes 2008’s first All Formats No1 to be based on new IP and is EA’s first new IP All Formats No1 since ‘Black’ two years ago. Released exclusively on Xbox 360 (66% of sales) and PS3 (34% of sales) EA’s new shooter is the third different All Formats No1 in 2008 to only be released on those two formats (‘Devil May Cry 4’ and ‘Burnout Paradise’ being the other two). After last week’s Kawashima hardware bundle sales spike, ‘Brain Training’ falls from No2 to No3 and is Nintendo’s only All Formats Top 10 title this week. Rockstar/Take 2 go back to school with the next-gen ‘Canis Canum Edit’ starring at No4 under the guise of ‘Bully: Scholarship Edition’ (Xbox360/Wii). Midway’s retailer promoted ‘Game Party’ on Wii is back in the Top 10, up from No13 to No7 and is the only Top 10 title to have increased in sales this week. EA’s ‘FIFA Street 3’ falls out of the All Formats Top 10, down from No8 to No17, lagging behind its 6 month-old namesake ‘FIFA 08’ which rises 3 places from No17 to No14. There are 3 remaining All Formats Top 40 new entries – THQ’s PC expansion pack ‘Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War – Soulstorm’ at No8 and also from THQ ‘MX vs ATV Untamed’ at No18, ahead of Koei’s ‘Dynasty Warriors 6’ at No19.
