Duffy’s ‘Rockferry’ takes a second week at No1 on the Album Chart, holding on to a slim lead over Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova’s ‘Once’ soundtrack at No2.
There are two US rock debuts in this weeks Top 5: OneRepublic at No4 with ‘Dreaming Out Loud’ and MGMT’s ‘Oracular Spectacular’ at No5. OneRepublic have already enjoyed considerable success on the Singles Chart with their Timbaland collaboration ‘Apologize’ and with ‘Stop and Stare’ (No5 this week), but for MGMT this is their first chart appearance in Ireland. In contrast, the next two new entries in this week’s chart are from homegrown veterans: Brian Kennedy’s ‘Interpretations’ at No15 – his ninth Top 20 album in Ireland – and Rory Gallagher’s ‘The Essential’ at No17. ‘The Ballad Of Ronnie Drew’ holds at No1 on the Singles Chart for a second week despite a 45% drop in sales, just ahead of Duffy’s ‘Mercy’ which climbs back from No3 to No2, and Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova’s ‘Falling Slowly’, down from No2 to No3. Leona Lewis leaps from No40 to No8 with ‘Better In Time’, the follow-up to her second single ‘Bleeding Love’ which spent eight weeks at No1 at the end of 2007. Timbaland lands his fifth Irish Top 10 single this week with ‘Scream’ jumping from No19 to No10 - after 5 weeks in the lower reaches of the Top 20 on downloads alone, the CD version was released this week. Mundy & Sharon Shannon climb back into the Top 20 this week with downloads of ‘Galway Girl’, up from No29 to No14. This Meteor Award winning track was the best selling Irish artist download of 2007 and has spent 33 weeks in the Top 40 - but has yet to climb higher than No8.
