Galway Girl Holds On

Sharon Shannon & Mundy take a second week at No1 on the Singles Chart with ‘The Galway Girl’, heading a Top 3 which is unchanged from last week: Flo Rida ‘Low’ at No2 and Estelle & Kanye West ‘American Boy’ at No3.

Madonna & Justin Timberlake climb from No6 to No4 with downloads of ‘4 Minutes’, and today’s 12”/CD release should catapult them higher next week. Swedish singer September has this week’s highest Top 30 new entry with ‘Cry For You’ at No8, giving her label Hard2Beat a 100% hit-rate from their first three releases (Basshunter & H ‘Two’ O provided the first two). Usher has the next new entry at No12 with ‘Love In This Club’ (feat. Young Jeezy), his eighth Irish hit single over a period of ten years. Mary Black has a fourth week at No1 on the Album Chart with ‘25 Years – 25 Songs’, ahead of this week’s highest new entry - The Kooks’ second album ‘Konk’ at No2. In contrast, their first album ‘Inside In/Inside Out’ took 6 months to reach a peak of No3 in August 2006. Mariah Carey has the next new entry at No7 with her eleventh studio album ‘E=MC²’ - her first Top 10 album in Ireland since ‘Butterfly’ which debuted at No5 in 1997.
