Two Becomes One

Christie Hennessy climbs to the top of the Album Chart this week with ‘The Two Of Us’, his second Top 10 album in Ireland since his death in December 2007 (‘The Definitive Christie Hennessy’ reached No8 six weeks ago).

Sharon Shannon has this week’s highest new entry at No2 with ‘The Galway Girl – The Best Of’, debuting at the same position as her previous compilation ‘Collection 1990-2005’ in September 2005. Mario Rosenstock has the next new entry at No3 with ‘Gift Grub: Dat’s Life!’, the ninth in his Gift Grub series, all of which have debuted in the Top 10. In a great week for Irish artists on the Album Chart, the third new entry is from Dublin’s Republic Of Loose with their confusingly-titled third album ‘Vol. IV: Johnny Pyro & The Dance Of Evil’ – ahead of the No35 debut for their first album ‘This Is The Tomb Of The Juice’ but behind the No2 debut for the second album ‘Aaagh!’. German techno-superstars Scooter have the fourth and final new entry in this week’s Top 10 with ‘Jumping All Over the World’, their first album to be released in Ireland since ‘The Stadium Techno Experience’ which reached No30 in April 2003. The Singles Chart has a familiar look to it this week, with the Top 3 unchanged from last week - Sharon Shannon & Mundy at No1 (for a fifth week), Madonna & Justin Timberlake at No2 and Flo Rida at No3. and Cheryl Cole climb into the Top 10 with ‘Heartbreaker’, up from No12 to No9, and the highest new entry is from singer/songwriter Ruth-Anne with downloads of her debut single ‘Take Me Away’ at No13.
