Eight weeks after debuting at No33, and after sitting for the past three weeks at No2, Madonna & Justin Timberlake finally climb to No1 with ‘4 Minutes’.
It’s Madonna’s eighth Irish Number One single, and her first since 2003 when she featured on Britney’s ‘Me Against The Music’. Prior to that, her other six chart-toppers were all in the 1980’s (‘Into the Groove’, ‘Borderline’, Papa Don’t Preach’, ‘True Blue’, ‘Who’s That Girl’ and ‘Like A Prayer’). The Ting Tings have this week’s highest new entry at No2 with ‘That’s Not My Name’, the follow-up to ‘Great DJ’ which reached No35 last week after hovering around the Top 50 for nine weeks, but dips to No40 this week. Rihanna has the next new entry at No5 with downloads of ‘Take A Bow’, her eighth Top 10 single in Ireland in less than three years. Christie Hennessy holds for a second week at No1 on the Album Chart with ‘The Two Of Us’, denying Sharon Shannon her first Irish No1 album as ‘The Galway Girl – The Best Of’ has a second week at No2. Scooter climb to No3 with ‘Jumping All Over the World’ after debuting at No7 last week, leaping ahead of Mario Rosenstock’s ‘Gift Grub: Dat’s Life!’, down from No3 to No4. Frank Sinatra has this week’s highest new entry at No9 with ‘Nothing But The Best’, just ahead of Neil Diamond who has the next new entry at No10 with ‘Home Before Dark’, the follow-up to ‘12 Songs’ which reached No16 two years ago.
